Roundup Weedkiller Lawsuits

Bryer-Monsanto's Roundup has been causing health concerns for decades, but recent developments in science and the courtroom prove the allegations. AVA Law Group, Inc. is currently investigating cases of those who have been exposed to the weedkiller Roundup and diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma or other cancers.

What Went Wrong with Roundup Weedkiller?

Roundup is a well-known herbicide first developed by the Monsanto Company (now owned by Bayer) in the 1970’s. Its popularity amongst consumers quickly made it a household name and a product widely used by homeowners, farmers, and gardeners. It’s been marketed by Monsanto as a safe product since the 1970’s, earning over $4.8 billion in revenue in 2015 from Roundup sales. However, consumers were left in the dark about the harmful secret of Roundup’s active ingredient: glyphosate.

Glyphosate in Roundup Weedkiller

Glyphosate is a small compound designed to block an enzyme vital for plant growth, making it a prominent compound in many weed killers on the market. Despite claims of its low toxicity in humans, studies linked long-term exposure to glyphosate to the development of Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and other cancers. The constant spraying of the weedkiller often means it gets inhaled by users or absorbed into their skin if the weedkiller drips onto them. The World Health Organization (WHO) International Agency of Research on Cancer (IARC) even declares that glyphosate may cause cancers including non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Roundup Glyphosate Cancer Risk

Roundup has and has potentially caused the following types of cancers in consumers who have been exposed to Roundup on a regular and consistent basis:
Follicular Lymphoma
Skin Lymphoma
Burkitt Lymphoma
Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma
Peripheral T-Cell Lymphoma
Mantle Cell Lymphoma
Hairy Cell Leukemia
Large B-Cell Lymphoma

Symptoms: Roundup-Caused Cancer

Symptoms of Roundup-caused cancer vary, but symptoms diagnosed may include the following:
Fever
Enlarged lymph nodes
Chest pain
Anemia
Swelling of the belly or abdomen
Weight loss or loss of appetite
Shortness of breath
Fatigue

Roundup Weedkiller Lawsuits: Breaking News

Finally, as of 2019, the tides turned for consumers suffering from long-term exposure to Roundup. In the first phase of Edward Hardeman v. Monsanto Company, the jury sided with Hardeman, a long-term Roundup user, that his non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma was caused by glyphosate in Roundup.

On March 27, 2019, the second phase of the trial found Bayer-Monsanto’s weedkiller guilty of causing Hardeman’s cancer. The jury awarded Hardemen $80 million dollars in damages, accusing Monsanto for corporate malfeasance. With hundreds of Roundup related cases pending in the courts, this ruling could flip the odds in their favor and allow them substantial compensation for their Roundup-related symptoms.

Monsanto's Questionable History

With the allegations against Monsanto, questions arise as to whether or not Monsanto sold Roundup knowing the harmful side effects of glyphosate exposure. After looking at their long, controversial history surrounding glyphosate related lab reports, evidence suggests that they might have.

Only two years after Roundup was put on the market, EPA found Roundup’s toxicity study to be incorrect and found evidence of data being falsified. This unstable history continued over the decades with Monsanto continuously denying glyphosate’s potential to be a human carcinogen despite the glaring evidence.

Roundup Victims: Why Act Now?

Allegations reveal Monsanto was negligent in warning consumers about the health risks associated with using Roundup. If proper warnings and information had been provided for Roundup users, these individuals could have taken more precautions when using the weedkiller, therefore reducing their chance of being diagnosed with cancer.
Those who have developed cancer and have a confirmed history of long-term Roundup use may be eligible for compensation to cover the following:
Medical expenses
Lost income
Pain and suffering
Treatments related to cancer diagnosis
Additional expenses caused by medical issues tied to Roundup
If you or a loved one has been exposed to glyphosate and/or Roundup and has developed non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma or a related cancer, you may be entitled to legal compensation from the product’s manufacturer. With cases like Edward Hardeman's proving that Roundup has the ability to cause non-Hodgkin's lymphoma after long-term exposure and Monsanto has been guilty of corporate malfeasance, you, as well, may finally reach justice for your Roundup-caused cancer.
